Privacy Policy
I tried to keep this simple.
Betsy is a small flag quiz. The game does not collect personal data, does not use analytics, and does not require an account.
Last updated: July 24, 2026
Betsy collects no personal data. Quiz progress stays on your iPhone. The optional Wikipedia reader is the only feature that loads the internet.
Data we collect
None. Betsy does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal information. There are no user accounts, no sign-in, and no way for us to identify you or your device.
The core game works offline
Everything the quiz needs, including flag images, maps, capitals, scoring, and progress review, is bundled inside the app or stored locally on your device.
Betsy has no server of its own. There is no account system, no analytics, and no data about you sent to us.
The optional Wikipedia reader
From your history, you can tap a country to read its Wikipedia article inside the app. When you do, Betsy loads that public page directly from Wikipedia over the internet, like opening the link in a browser.
This feature is optional and never required to play. Betsy does not collect, receive, or store anything from your use of those pages. Wikipedia activity is handled by the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy, not by Betsy.
On-device progress
As you play, Betsy keeps track of which countries you have seen and how you answered so it can show stats and help you review missed flags.
This progress is stored locally using Apple's on-device storage. It never leaves your device and is not accessible to us. You can remove it by deleting the app.
Microphone and speech recognition
Voice mode lets you say a country's name instead of tapping or typing. Only when you use Voice mode, Betsy asks for two permissions:
- Microphone: to hear the country name you say for the flag shown.
- Speech Recognition: to turn your spoken answer into text so the app can check it.
Betsy does not record, save, or transmit your audio. It is used momentarily to check the spoken answer and then discarded. If you never use Voice mode, these permissions are never requested.
Speech recognition is provided by Apple's operating system and is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
No tracking or third-party SDKs
Betsy contains no third-party software development kits. There is no advertising, analytics, crash reporting, profiling, or tracking across apps and websites.
Children's privacy
Betsy is suitable for all ages. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, including children, there is no personal information to gather, store, or share.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the Last updated date above. Because the app collects no data, changes are expected to be clarifications rather than changes in how information is handled.
